Mr Ossama Matta, Chief Financial Officer

Mr Ossama Matta was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Zain Group effective June 10, 2010, six years after joining the company. He plays a critical and key role in the Zain Group senior executive management team, in determining strategy going forward and is responsible for all the Group’s financial, investment and Investor Relations issues. Mr Matta joined Zain in 2004 as the CFO of the Lebanon ‘mtc touch’ operation, thereafter promoted in 2007 to CFO of Zain Kuwait, the mother and most profitable company within the Group. In early 2008, Mr Matta was again promoted to the key role of Zain Group Middle East Finance Officer, overseeing the following country operations: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

He is a results-oriented leader and an advocate of firm Corporate Governance and transparency with more than a 15 year track record of solid financial and managerial experience in the Middle-East. With a strong corporate finance background and expertise, he has solid relationships with the Investment Banking and Commercial Banking communities across the region, having successfully raised over US$5.3 billion in financing over the past 2 years plus an IFC loan of $400m. Most recently, Mr Matta played a key role in the completion of Zain Group’s sale of its 15 African country operations for $10.7bn, a multi-award winning M&A activity that has won the accolades of several prestigious institutions for the expediency and efficiency for which such a complex transaction was executed despite testing market conditions.

Mr Matta attained an Executive MBA from the American University of Beirut, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
