Inspiring big ideas in you: Zain unveils ‘My Business’ in Nigeria

An innovative mobile package empowering entrepreneurs to grow their business

  • Launched today in Nigeria, soon to be rolled-out across all Africa and Middle East operations
  • First mobile operator on the continent to offer a high level of flexibility and control in meeting the communications needs of Small and Medium enterprises

Lagos, Nigeria, February 22, 2010: Zain, the leading mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa, has announced the introduction in Nigeria of ‘My Business’, a unique package that is specially designed to assist and improve the efficiency of mobile usage for business people and their workforce. ‘My Business’ is a result of extensive research conducted across several Zain markets to uncover what entrepreneurs require from their mobile service provider to support their day to day commercial activities, so they have the peace of mind and more time to focus on big ideas and grow their businesses.

‘My Business’ comes with several ground-breaking features that will, for the first time in Africa, allow business owners to manage mobile communication costs throughout their commercial enterprise by controlling both budget and airtime usage, as well as being able to transfer airtime to those who are part of their ‘My Business’ mobile network.

Business owners may have up to 50 people on the service, as the package is sold with a master and an associate line initially, with the option to increase to 49, the number of associate lines. These proprietors and entrepreneurs will then be able to manage and monitor their staff or associate mobile phones by using the master line to send airtime anytime, anywhere to them as ‘My Business’ is part of Zain’s ‘One Network’ platform that covers 22 countries across Africa and the Middle East. They can also determine and allocate exact call time needed for specific business transactions, control budgets, and supervise mobile communications workflow at a discounted rate.

“Empowering businesses to grow efficiently through mobile telecommunications is central to Zain’s commitment to enhance the livelihoods of the communities we serve, fulfilling our brand promise of ‘A wonderful world’”, said Mr Chris Gabriel, Zain Africa CEO. “The launch of this innovative package in Nigeria is testament to the importance of, and our confidence in, this vibrant economy, one that relies heavily on entrepreneurship. The next step is to see ‘My Business’ rolled out across all Zain mobile operations.

All lines under the Zain ‘My Business’ package have access to the usual prepaid Zain Value Added Services –One Network, roaming, Pay4Me, Voicemail, WAP, information services, MMS, social network, inspirational services, caller ring back tone, data roaming etc. – at the standard rates.

“The launch of ‘My Business’ in Nigeria is yet another demonstration of Zain’s commitment to offer practical mobile solutions to make it easier for our customers to do business,” said Mr Alain Sante-Marie, Chief Executive Officer for Zain Nigeria. “Modern technology, and that includes the mobile phone, has increased the pace of today’s business. The least we can do for our customers is to offer them simple and straightforward options, in a cost effective manner.”
