Research confirms mobile telecommunications pivotal in disaster zone
MTC releases benchmark report on role of telephony during 2006 Lebanon War

“Mobility: A nation under siege” is the latest of series of reports released by MTC on the socio-economic impact of mobile telephony. The report is made up of three different sections. The first is an analysis of unique data of the conflict extracted from MTC’s local operation, MTC Touch. Renowned economists Diane Coyle and Philip Thornton conducted the analysis. The second section is a report of the qualitative and quantitative survey of some 800 people in Lebanon conducted by international research firm Nielsen. The third section is a look into how MTC Touch was capable of keeping its operation running throughout the war even though missiles directly targeted some of its infrastructure.

MENA Region: Mobility for One Language, Diverse Cultures
       
The mobile phone industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs inside and outside the industry, boosting economic growth and fostering social harmony and security are the major findings of the MTC commissioned 140 page report titled “Mobility for One Language, Diverse Cultures” A first-of-its-kind detailed study and survey of the mobile industry in the Arab World, the report was launched at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona -February 2006.
